Ballet Nebraska announces promotions, new dancers for 2016-17 season

Omaha, NE  — Aug. 1, 2016 — Erika Overturff, founder and artistic director of American Midwest Ballet, has announced several promotions and additions to the 2016-2017 company roster.

Katherine Eppink and Anna Swenson have been promoted to artists.
“Katherine and Anna have danced with us for several seasons,” said Overturff. “They are not only beautiful dancers, but are also wonderfully adaptable and congenial.”
The company also welcomes Chicago native Marco Clemente, formerly of Dayton Ballet and Minnesota Ballet, as an artist. Additional newcomers this season include Rachel Smith, formerly of Nashville Ballet, as an apprentice, and new trainees Nora Carr and Julie Zukaitis.
Dancers Rebecca Brenner, Jake Godek, Alyssa Grimsley, Amaris Sharratt and Chloé Watson have been promoted to ensemble artists.
Also returning this season to dance with Overtuff and ballet master Matthew Carter are veteran artists Erin Alarcón, Ryan Christopher, Vivi DiMarco, Claire Goodwillie, Bret Samson, Kelsey Schwenker, Katie van der Mars and Sasha York, apprentices Katherine Boatright, Alexandra Hoffman, Kogan Murphy and Whitney Walsh, and trainee Hannah Birdwell.
American Midwest Ballet opens the season with Swan Lake at Orpheum Theater on Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m.
