OMAHA — April 28, 2017 — American Midwest Ballet announces 2017-18 auditions for its two student groups, American Midwest Ballet II and Repertory Ensemble.
Auditions for Season 8 take place May 19 at American Midwest Ballet’s rehearsal studios at Motion 41 Dance. Repertory Ensemble auditions begin at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., followed by American Midwest Ballet II auditions at 7:30 p.m.
There is never a fee to audition, but online registration is required.
American Midwest Ballet II (BN II) serves as an introduction to professional company life for motivated ballet students who are 14 years of age or older. Selected students rehearse weekly for performances and learn company repertory. They also take one class per week with the company.
Repertory Ensemble is an ongoing collaboration with Motion 41 Dance. Junior- and senior-level ensemble groups meet weekly to learn new choreography and rehearse works in a variety of dance styles for their own performances throughout the year.
Students from dance studios throughout the community are welcome to audition and must continue training concurrently at a dance school of their choice. Members of the student groups are chosen by audition each season by Erika Overturff, founder and artistic director of American Midwest Ballet.
Both tuition-based programs take place over the course of two terms each season.
“We enjoy working each week with young dancers,” says Overturff. “These students have already made a commitment to dance. We provide additional performance opportunities and mentoring in their dance journeys.”
