'Nutcracker' youth auditions July 28

Erika Overturff leads young performers in last season's audition for American Midwest Ballet's The Nutcracker.

Do visions of sugarplums… or mice, or angels… dance in your child’s head? Young performers age 7 and up are eligible to audition for roles in American Midwest Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker to be presented November 30 at the IWCC Arts Center in Council Bluffs and December 2 at the Omaha Music Hall.

Online pre-registration is required by Wednesday, July 25  in order to audition.  A participation agreement signed by a parent or legal guardian must be turned in at audition.

“This is an exciting opportunity for children to be part of a professional stage production,” says American Midwest Ballet artistic director Erika Overturff, choreographer of The Nutcracker. “Not only is it a chance to perform, it’s a way for them to experience how theater works, and to get a close-up view of our professional dancers‘ dedication and artistry.”
