American Midwest Ballet artistic director Erika Overturff was a guest on KMTV’s ‘Morning Blend’ program on Tuesday, May 18, talking about the company’s upcoming production of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream,’ which runs this Saturday and Sunday at the Rose Theater in Omaha.
Erika talked about why she had chosen ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ as the final work in the company’s debut season, gave a short outline of the story, and gave some insights into its timeless appeal from the era of Shakespeare to the present. Viewers also got to see photos and video clips of recent rehearsals, including Erika’s pas de deux with the male dancer who portrays the hapless amateur actor Bottom… who has to dance his role wearing a donkey’s head!
