MEET THE CHARACTERS:
Introducing Tweedledee and Tweedledum!
Alice in Wonderland is headed your way, so we’ve asked the dancers to help introduce you to some of the characters you’ll meet in this imaginative, delightfully original ballet. Today, let’s meet Tweedledum and Tweedledee – or as the dancers call them, the Tweedles. Two pairs of dancers are cast in this role, and one thing that makes it especially challenging is that they have to dance it while tied together by one leg!

Sophie Graham: “The Tweedles are just as they sound – a bit childish and ditzy in their own ways. On top of that, we share a leg and have to do everything opposite one another, which is a coordination challenge that has created lots of laughs in the process! My favorite moment is when they start shoving each other back and forth, and eventually one gets poked in the eyes! It’s a fun moment where we get to showcase that silly fighting that happens between siblings.”

Alexandra Hoffman: “The Tweedle scene will be the first comedic scene for the audience! As funny as it is, it is quite challenging to dance with your leg tied to another dancer. A lot of laughs have already been shared in rehearsal!”

Elena Carter: “The Tweedle duet is unique, playful and challenging. Whitney Woods and I have to stay perfectly in sync so that we can share a leg and execute the steps without falling over! Learning the choreography was a brain teaser as we got used to dancing with three legs. Our characters may be silly, but our coordination is complex! I’m looking forward to taking on this character combo with Whitney, one of my closest friends here in the AMB family.”
