Recently we wrapped up the pilot session of a new program with community engagement partner Girls Inc. For two and a half months, company artist Kogan Murphy taught a weekly beginning ballet class to a group of girls ages 8 and 9 at Girls Inc.’s North Omaha center. For their final session, the young dancers gave a demonstration performance for an assembly of their friends.

“I loved getting the opportunity to teach at Girls Inc. this summer!” Kogan said. “We learned a lot about ballet and practiced so many steps. My favorite part was at the end of class – we would do ‘free dance’ and I would let the girls do any kind of movement they wanted. It was really fun to see all of their personalities shine through and watch them explore their own movement!”
