Summer Intensive Week III

The spectacular “Kingdom of the Shades” scene from the 19th century classic ‘La Bayadère’ was a highlight of the closing-day performance for both the Summer Intensive and Junior Intensive dancers.

American Midwest Ballet’s 2024 Summer Intensive ended on a high note last week, wrapping up three weeks of challenging and rewarding classes for highly-motivated young dancers who converged on the Hoff Center to polish their skills in ballet, pointe, variations, jazz, modern, contemporary, and repertory.

Adding extra energy to the final week: the 18 young dancers ages 10 through 13 who participated in the one-week Junior Intensive and joined the older dancers onstage for a final-day concert showcasing what they had learned.

Week III’s guest faculty member, back for her second year at the Summer Intensive, was performer/choreographer/teacher Chloé-Grant Abel. Her multifaceted background includes: 12 years on full scholarship at the Kansas City Ballet School, plus studies in New York at the Ailey School; a BFA degree in dance, magna cum laude, from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory; and dancing twelve seasons at Denver’s celebrated Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble, where she also became a rehearsal director and senior ensemble manager.

The Summer Intensive will be back for 2025, so visit this page if you’d like to be put on the notification list for details! Thanks to all for your support!
