February 17 auditions for community roles in The Wizard of Oz

Attention young dancers: Would you like a chance to try out for a role in American Midwest Ballet’s Dubuque touring production of The Wizard of Oz?

Then register now for the Friday, February 17 community-wide auditions at the Heritage Center at the University of Dubuque, 2255 Bennett St., Dubuque, IA 52001.

Auditions will be conducted by American Midwest Ballet artistic staff. Roles are available for dancers ages 9+. Pre-registration is required.

Please note: There will be a $50 costume-maintenance fee for those cast in the production.

Attention students ages 11 and up: Interested in attending AMB’s 2023 Summer Intensive? You can audition for it at the same time as the Wizard of Oz audition. Sign up to be considered for Summer Intensive only, Wizard of Oz only, or both opportunities! More info here…

Please make sure you have submitted the pre-registration form before coming to the audition.

Ages 9-11:

  • 4:00-4:30 pm – Check in
  • 4:30-6:00 pm – Audition

Ages 12+:

  • 6:30-7:00 pm – Check in
  • 7:00-8:30 pm – Audition

Staging Rehearsal Weekend

First staging rehearsal: Saturday, February 18, 2023

  • 11:30 am-12:45 pm – Corn

  • 2:30-3:30 pm – Wizard Attendants & Guards
  • 3:30-4:30 pm – Ladies & Gentlemen of Oz
  • 4:30-5:30 pm – Ozians
  • 5:30-6:30 pm – Ladies & Gentlemen of Oz, Ozians (Opening of Act 2)
  • 6:30 pm – Parent Meeting

Continuing Rehearsals

Dancers must be available for rehearsals on Fridays from 4 to 6 pm and Saturdays from 2 to 5 pm beginning the weekend of February 24, 2023.

Performances of American Midwest Ballet’s Dubuque touring production of The Wizard of Oz, an original full-length story ballet choreographed by Erin Alarcón, will be Friday, April 21, at 7:00 pm, and Saturday, April 22, at 1:00 pm.
